Surprisingly few construction materials used in homes are treated for fire resistance, including most insulation products. Fiberlite’s Cellulose Insulation products are treated with a fire retardant that will last the life of the structure and stops or slows the spread of fire in wall cavities and attic areas. FTI also offers products that can serve as a one hour fire rated product, two hour fire rated product, and an ignition barrier product for use over foam insulation. Other types of insulation, such as fiberglass and foam, do not contain a fire retardant. This built-in safety feature allows homeowners more time for a safe exit in the event of a fire.
